Cacofonix is a prominent, though often ridiculed, character in the Asterix comic book series. He resides in the Gaulish village of Asterix and Obelix, and is the village bard.

Cacofonix's defining characteristic is his terrible singing voice, which is universally disliked by the other villagers. His attempts to perform usually result in the villagers, and even animals, reacting negatively, often plugging their ears or tying him up.

Despite his lack of musical talent, Cacofonix is generally well-meaning and eager to participate in village activities, even if it involves being gagged or tied to a tree during feasts. He seems unaware of the true extent of his singing's unpleasantness.
